A Saintly Dedication
On Friday, May 25th, our grounds looked a little different than usual. Chairs were set up on the front lawn and a PA system and microphone were in place for the festivities. Around 3 p.m., our Residents and visitors gathered around for the blessing and dedication of our new Saint Joseph statue. The statue was erected in January as a tribute to the nearly three decades of collecting ministry that Sister Irene Marie provided for our Home. The hard work of Mr. Joseph Shaughnessy, an Advisory Board member, made it all possible. Mr. Shaughnessy found the statue through the family of his pastor, Monsignor Sal Polizzi who blessed and dedicated the statue. Mr. Shaughnessy’s company prepared it for outdoor display and installed it for the Home. He also arranged the landscaping and flower beds around the statue for the big day!
Sister Irene Marie was back in town for the dedication and many good friends of the Home also attended. The dedication was followed by Benediction and a reception for all participants. It was a beautiful and warm May day as we had expected.
The statue will be a concrete reminder of the Little Sisters strong tradition of reliance on Divine Providence to provide for the Home and our needs through the intercession of Saint Joseph. We hope that the statue will become a regular place of rest and prayer for our community and for their many visitors.
