Always up for a reason to party, our Residents celebrated the Chinese New Year on Thursday, February 19th. This year is designated the Year of the Goat or Sheep. Musical standards were provided by Joe Garnier on piano and vocals. Highlights included a placemat about the Chinese zodiac for each Resident to calculate their birth sign, to see the personal qualities associated with their sign, and to discover which signs were compatible with theirs. This made for some interesting conversations, comparisons and laughter. Student volunteers from Delta Gamma sorority at Saint Louis University helped serve the refreshments which included ice cream, cake and punch. A costumed red dragon circled throughout the auditorium and added to the festivities and theme. This was our first celebration of the Chinese New Year and everyone seemed to have fun while learning more about the history of this ancient tradition. A 2nd Happy New Year to all!
