On Wednesday, March 26th, about 50 eighth grade students including cast, stage and lighting crews, and stage props invaded our Home’s auditorium from Saint Catherine Laboure parish in Sappington to present their production of the classic musical comedy hit “Bye Bye Birdie” for our Residents.
For nearly 2 hours the students entertained us with song, comedy, and scenes relating the familiar story of one final national publicity plan before heartthrob Conrad Birdie’s(an Elvis Presley type) induction into the army. The show was performed in excellent fashion by the students on all levels, and brought a lot of good old-fashioned fun to our audience. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the show, and it was evident that the students had put tremendous time and energy into their rehearsals and preparations.
We understand that presenting this show around town has reinforced the unbreakable bond among the 8th grade students, as well as entertaining many audiences in the area. We are very thankful that the parish thought of our Home as a venue for this production. We thank the students and their parents and teachers who provided so much talent, time and support to make this effort a reality for the class of 2014.
