This year we celebrated our 25th Anniversary Benefit Dinner at Kemoll’s “Top of the Met” Restaurant. Sister Irene Marie, who initiated the annual dinner with the Cusumano family, was in town from our home in Louisville to join in the festivities.
Archbishop Carlson attended, along with Bishop Hermann and other archdiocesan staffers, and led the invocation before the meal. Mayor Francis Slay was also in attendance and everyone enjoyed mingling with him during the cocktail hour.
Highlights of the evening included our Grand Raffle drawing, and the presentation of the Saint Jeanne Jugan award to the Cusumano family for hosting us all these years at their Kemoll’s Restaurant. Our relationship began with them when we still had a home on Grand Avenue near their original site. Frank Cusumano, veteran sportcaster for KSDK-TV Newschannel 5 was our emcee for the evening and accepted the award in the name of his family.
The evening was a great success socially and financially, raising more than $90,000 and receiving an additional $45,000 in pledges for the renovation of our 7th floor to accommodate more nursing care residents. A good time was had by all, with Sisters, residents and some staff in attendance along with more than 200 of our special friends. Thank you for making the evening so enjoyable. See you next year!
