Something new happened at our Residence this year, as each floor (all eight of them) and some departments created lavish floats for our first Mardi Gras parade!
There was a buzz in the air as each float and its creators/participants lined up in the first floor corridor for their journey through the hall on their way to the auditorium and the 6-person judging committee. Beautiful colors for floats and costumes adorned the room and added to the festivities along with party refreshments.
The theme for the floats was anything “Disney,” so floats included depictions of Mickey and Minnie, The Princess and the Frog, Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs, Aladdin, Sleeping Beauty, The Three Amigos, The Little Mermaid, The Wizard of Oz and Finding Nemo.
Tasty treats were the prizes awarded for most creative float, most colorful float, best built float, etc. More than 100 pictures were taken and a slideshow of them was posted on our cable TV system, so that all Residents could view them in their rooms at their leisure. It was a great opportunity for our Residents and staff to blend their creative minds and talents, and a great time was had by all.
