Resident Stella Ogrodnik celebrated her 100th birthday on July 27th with her family, Little Sisters, other Residents, and staff in attendance. The festivities began with a Mass attended by her three children (see picture). Dressed in traditional Polish attire, Stella received a special blessing after communion from Fr. Jim Beegan, our resident chaplain. Then it was on to our dining room where dinner with wine, and a festive cake for dessert were served to Stella, her family, the Little Sisters, and all the Residents in attendance. Polish songs and birthday greetings were the order of the day. A special treat for all were cookies made with Stella’s picture on each of them. It was a unique and uplifting occasion for all and gave everyone an opportunity to wish Stella “happy Birthday” and many more to come.
