The weather was perfect – not as hot and humid as might be expected in June – as about 50 of our Residents gathered outside on Flag Day, Thursday morning, June 14th for our annual Flag Raising ceremony. Three of our veterans acted as color guards as veteran Gene Larson presented the folded flag to Father Beegan, our chaplain, for a blessing and prayer which reminded us of the meaning and importance of the flag in our nation’s history. Nate Borgsmiller of our Activities Department was assisted by Resident Steve Gray in unfurling the flag, mounting it on its pole, and raising it above our Home. After everyone recited the Pledge of Allegiance, the brief ceremony concluded with the singing of our National Anthem and God Bless America. Everyone left feeling uplifted and a bit more patriotic.
